Na`Vi defend ASUS Summer crown

Natus Vincere have defeated Kazakh newcomer NEXT to become champions of ASUS for the second consecutive time in history; the title is worth convertend €2.500 prize money.

The DotA tournaments of the ASUS series have recently been awarded with a higher amount of prize money, as well as the so-called Masters status, which added qualification tournaments to the event, hence made it accessable to a wider scope of teams.

Enforced by the participation of Virus at the Spring tournament in May earlier this year, another two international debutants decided to make the journey to Kiev. NE.PENTIA and 4GL fell short to the strong competition however.

Positive exclamation point of ASUS Summer has been Kazakh newcomer NEXT, who surpassed all expectations and finished as vice champion, despite playing in the current line-up for less than one month.

The final series against Na`Vi delivered high-class entertainment and went over three games, from which especially the first and the second will stay in the viewer’s memories. While Na`Vi eventually took game one after fierce resistance, NEXT managed to light the beacon of hope, pulling the second game back in their favour. Going into game three, Na`Vi picked up speed and started to steamroll over the map, taking out building after building. Holding the big early advantage in hand, the last game was won in the end, allowing the squad to lift the biggest check, worth converted €2.500.

Gamescom, Cologne marks the next stop of the competitive offline-DotA circuit and is to be held from the 17th to 21st of August 2011.
