DotA 2 International Tournament at GamesCom 2011


Valve has officially announced a exhibition event of DOTA 2 at GamesCom 2011, as we reported earlier. There is going to be a DotA 2 Tournament taking place in Cologne, Germany from 17 to 21 August. World’s top 16 DotA teams are invited for this mega event they will compete against each other for a prize pool of 1$ million which is the biggest prize pool ever in DotA history.

Valve’s Press Release:

“The International is the first public Dota 2 event and will give the tens of millions of gamers playing Dota around the world their first look at the new game,” said Gabe Newell, president and founder of Valve. “I have had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the of play is extraordinary.”

In this 5-day event DotA 2 will be publicly shown worldwide for the first time via live video broadcast in four different languages (Chinese, Russian, English & German). The tournament will be based on Double elimination playoff format. This is going to an exciting and thrilling moment for both competing teams and fans as they never played or seen the glimpse of DotA 2. Despite from the tournament there is a fair chance that Valve may come out with DotA 2 Beta invites for fans.
